Leaving London July 2009

After a tense few weeks of packing, painting and drinking our goodbyes we left two days later than planned. We had overloaded our bikes and took a final ride through London, southbound.

We set off in a wobbly way as our bikes were so heavy. We rode through a few places linked to our London Past. Camden, round Regents park, Hyde park, near Sloane Square and King's Road, then into the delights of South London, Norbury, Croydon. We camped in a 'private' spot in Sevenoaks, next to the 12th hole of the golf course at Knowle House. Beauiful spot with lots of deer.

The next day we had a hard slog, our first 100km and Ais was in no fit state to cycle that far yet. Sussex and Kent have their fair share of rolling hills. Lucky for us, we found a little garden center which had a cafe. Pugz had the'Big Boy Breakast' complete with fried everything, including two fried bread slices. Ais, being more sensible, had the 'small fried breakfast'. It will be a matter of weeks before Ais is able to eat as much as Pugz!

We tried to use the infamous public toilets on the A20 which had been closed for indecent sexual activities. We weren't up to anything, a sign on the door told us so. Pugz weed in a bush but Ais was too shy to wee there so she had to hold on until a more secluded spot!

Ah, the joys of cycling in England!
